The rise of “functional training” brought with it some positive changes, such as getting people off machines and making them more conscious of the importance of training their stabilizers … but it also bred a campaign against isolation exercises… and for some reason, especially against bicep curls. Granted, bicep curls will not drastically alter your body composition (see fitness tip #10) or improve your athletic performance, but they will make you look good in a T-shirt… and looking good in a T-shirt (and attracting the opposite sex) is very very functional for men.
